- Do you have the key to a Dragon’s heart?
- Would you benefit from a Dragon’s expert opinion?
The Main Event 2010 organisers have revealed a rare opportunity for visitors and exhibitors to pitch their unique business ideas to Scotland’s very own Dragon at the Main Event next Thursday (11 March) at the SECC.
Up to three lucky people will have the chance to pitch to the Edinburgh-based entrepreneur, Shaf Rasul, who will provide valuable feedback and advice on how to make it work.
Each person will take to the stage and have five minutes to deliver their idea. Shaf will give his expert critique on their proposal.
Once everyone has pitched, The Main Event audience will have the chance to participate by using electronic voting pads to select which ‘pitch’ they would give a fictional amount of £80,000 to if they were in Shaf’s shoes, before Shaf delivers his final verdict!
Anyone interested in pitching to Shaf should email their contact details and a brief description of their idea by Tuesday 9 March to Anna McConville – Anna.McConville@qdevents.co.uk
The final ‘pitchers’ will be notified in advance of the event.
Get those thinking caps on and take advantage before this experienced Dragon leaves its den!

T in the Park’s Geoff Ellis popped down to the SECC this week to see how preparations were going for The Main Event 2010 taking place next Thursday (11 March).
Ellis, founder of the legendary music event, visited exhibitors Geronimo Sailing to get on board their yacht and experience a ‘board’ meeting with a difference!
He also met with some of the staff from QD events – organisers of the Main Event – who gave him a sneak preview of this year’s disco theme! There was no Specialized Bar, nor any disco dancers, but there was an MC and lots of shimmering glitter balls to add a little sparkle as they docked on the River Clyde on the (unusually) sunny March afternoon! …All just a taste of what is to come!
Geoff Ellis will be sharing his knowledge at a speaker session not to be missed from 11:45am – 12:30pm in the MCL theatre. Geoff will be taking a look at some of the biggest music festivals in the country and will talk about how and why they work in Scotland.
For more information about the speaker sessions at The MCL Theatre visit the Main Event website here and select ‘Features’, then ‘The MCL Theatre’

The Bogus Brothers are a constantly evolving five piece party band from York. Renowned for their energetic shows, the bands wow factor and interaction with their audience is now legendary.
“We have made some very good contacts in Scotland in our first year and are seen to be a refreshing change and something new for the events industry in this area. We are very excited to be returning to the show this year to build on last years success. The Main Event is the only serious event show that services the needs of event organisers in Scotland and we feel it is something we have to be part of as a serious professional entertainment specialist.
We are fully aware of the problems facing event organisers sourcing entertainment from across the border and the huge costs involved in flying bands up from London and arranging equipment.
After several years performing at the very top of the events industry in the UK we felt Scotland had been neglected and as the band are based in Yorkshire it meant that it was the same travelling distance to Glasgow and Edinburgh as it was for us to travel to London. In essence it is something we should have thought about doing sooner as the reception at the events we performed at last year in Glasgow, Edinburgh Aberdeen and Inverness were overwhelming. Nearly all have rebooked for events this year and there has been a steady stream of enquiries from guests who attended those events we performed at.
I think because the Bogus Brothers include their travel and production in the reasonable fees we charge it has enabled event organisers in Scotland to use the bands entertainment cost effectively for their events ensuring 1st class entertainment within limited budgets.
We also have preferential rates with an AV company called AV Matrix who work with the band regularly and specialise in Conference and Awards production. In these difficult times finding a professional company who are very competitive, extremely efficient and listen to exactly what the client requires ensuring your special event comes in on budget is essential. Having worked with many production companies, AV Matrix ability to listen and provide have always exceeded our expectations and those of the event organisers we have worked for.
We have tried to think of everything to make an event organisers life as easy as possible and have even set up a no contact website for event organisers to show potential clients with none of the bands contact details. This website is www.bogusbrothers.info “
The band specialise in providing unique tailored entertainment for Awards dinners, company parties and conferences, weddings and celebrity parties. Some of the celebrities they have provided entertainment for include Sir Alex Ferguson, Eddie Jordan of Formula One, Ronan Keating, The Corrs and U2 and this year are the entertainment for the Irish rugby captain Brian O’driscolls wedding.
The bands website www.bogusbrothers.com provides all the information an event organiser would require and clients requiring a cd rom brochure to show clients and for more information regarding fees can call Tony Williams on 07831561012.
